“Here’s the kick off.” Thanks, Relient K.
Nate and I spent our first day of work at the house on Saturday. Technically, what we did wasn’t quite legal, but we’re pretty sure Freddie Mac wouldn’t complain about the free labor.
There were a few things that needed to be done in order to satisfy our loan company, and after waiting for over a month for Freddie Mac to get contractor bids for the wrong jobs, we decided to take matters into our own hands. Nate learned how to patch a hole in a roof by googling and, mostly, by trying! His “assistant” (aka me) spent much of the day handing/throwing him tools and supplies from the ground. The roof looks great!
I took on my first task too. I installed a new door knob in the door that had previously been kicked in by some local hoodlums. The door needs to be replaced once we’re the owners but we’re hoping the new doorknob will satisfy our (somewhat ridiculous) loan company.
We also put a new exhaust pipe on the water heater… but let’s just leave it at that. Neither Nate nor I want to think about that any more.
